According to the first information, Tesla was even close to an agreement with Madrid, at least 4.2 billion euros are on the table.

It is also possible that the recent visit of the Tesla boss to France shuffled the cards under the influence of Emmanuel Macron, who is very committed to the file.
Elon Musk also announced that they were “very likely” for Tesla to invest in France, even if he didn’t directly mention the Gigafactory.

Outside the Old Continent, Tesla has applicants for the location of the new factory. In particular, these are Canada, South Korea, Indonesia and especially India, with the latter being favored over the others. The decision on the location, as promised by the general director, will be made by the end of the year. Nonetheless, It is possible that Tesla will open other gigafactories in the futureby reassessing one or more rejected countries.
On the Spanish side, the Valencia region has already been able to convince other manufacturers to deploy new factories. Volkswagen will build a plant in the region, and local authorities are also working on other issues with other manufacturers.
