Since the opening of the Peugeot 9X8 a few months earlier, people have been talking about it. And for good reason, it marks a return to great fanfare for the tricolor brand in endurance, and especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Not to mention its very attractive design which is very popular. However, the sports car, which belongs to the Hypercar category, still has some way to go before it can match the Ferrari that won this year’s Le Mans race. But this did not stop fans of the lion brand from loving this car very much, to the point of hoping that a sports car would be created based on it. But Peugeot had always refused until then.

A small opportunity
Indeed, the rules allow manufacturers to produce production cars inspired by these racing models. But Peugeot immediately rejected this possibility. It is, of course, about the search for profitability. However, a supercar is not like that at all, unlike an SUV like that Peugeot 2008 for example recently restyling. Therefore, it was logical and quite predictable that the French firm abandoned this option, preferring to focus on models with greater commercial potential. This is also the reason why the Peugeot E-Legend concept did not continue as a production car.
Soon?
But there is still some hope. When asked by our colleagues from Top Gear, the head of Peugeot, Linda Jackson made a statement that did not go unnoticed. She claims that “ If you come to me with a big check, we can talk about it. It’s one of those things where there would be no reason to shut down if someone came up with something serious. Maybe I left the door wide open?“. The meaning of the last sentence is still rather vague, but perhaps it is promising!
