170 households from 30 settlements located in the forest land were affected by the heavy rains that fell on Saturday afternoon in Hunedoara County, where a red storm warning was issued.

Prefect Kelin Marian convened a meeting of the District Committee for Emergency Situations (CJSU) on Sunday, which was also attended by the mayors of the communes affected by the flood.

According to the first data collected by the authorities, 30 localities, two national roads, four district roads and three communal roads were affected after the torrential rains. Also, 15 settlements remained without electricity, 23 people, including three children, were evacuated.

During the meeting of the CJSU, the measures necessary as a result of the dangerous meteorological phenomena recorded in the district were analyzed and adopted, the prefect, who was on site on Saturday afternoon, stressed that it is “extremely important” to quickly correct the problems in the affected settlements, the Prefecture said.

“The most important thing is to solve infrastructure problems that threaten road traffic and are related to power outages. We have 170 affected households and we have requested that all operational reports be communicated to us by the local emergency committees as soon as possible. I would like to emphasize that we must be prompt and solve these unpleasant situations together. (…) I want to inform the citizens that the danger has been overcome, but if similar situations will be repeated, I ask you to report any problem by phone number 112,” said the prefect of Hunedoara. the district sent, quoted by Agerpres.

He noted that along with military firefighters, there are also groups of gendarmes ready to intervene if necessary.
