Olena Ostapenko became the first finalist of the WTA tournament in Birmingham. The Latvian reached the semifinals in favor of Anastasia Potapova with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

Olena Ostapenko, who is ranked 17th in the WTA ranking, became the first athlete to reach the finals of the tournament in Birmingham.

The athlete from Latvia defeated Anastasia Potapova (21 WTA) in the semifinals, which ended in a match that was decided in three sets.

The Russian won the first set 7-5 but lost the next two after 2 hours and 9 minutes of play.

In the final, Ostapenko will meet the main favorite Barbora Krejcikova (12 WTA). She eliminated Lin Zhu (39 WTA) in the semifinals 6-3, 6-2.

The Rothesay Classic Birmingham runs from June 19-25 on grass and is part of the WTA 250. It offers a total prize pool of $259,303 and the reigning champion is Beatrice Haddad Maia.
