Kudermetova authoritatively controlled the first set and gave only two games to the Belarusian.
And in the second set, the Russian started well, Sabalenko came back and went to the tie-break, where she suffered a decisive defeat, 7-2.
In the quarterfinals, Veronika Kudermetova will face Kateryna Alexandrova in a repeat of last week’s final in Hertogenbosch, where the latter won the trophy.
The German Open is a WTA 500 tournament held on grass in Berlin. The tournament will be held from June 19 to 25, and the total prize pool is $780,637. Last year’s champion was Ons Zhaber.
