Four people were shot dead on Tuesday afternoon in an anti-Israel attack near a Jewish settlement in the northern occupied West Bank, a day after six Palestinians were killed in an Israeli military operation in the region, AFP reported.

The attack took place near a gas station near the Israeli settlement of Eli. According to the Israeli army, it was carried out by two attackers, who were eventually “neutralized”.

Among the dead are two residents of Eli and a young man who lives in central Israel. The identity of the fourth victim was not known early in the evening.

One of the two attackers was “neutralized” by an armed civilian at the scene of the attack, the Israeli army said, without specifying whether he was killed.

According to Israeli security forces, a second assailant who escaped was also “neutralized” near Tubas, where the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of a Palestinian killed by “occupation bullets” (Israel, no).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the attack “shocking and disgusting.”

“Those who attacked us are either in the grave or in prison, and it will be the same here (…) We will continue to fight terrorism with all our strength and we will defeat it,” he added.

Magen David Adom, Israel’s equivalent of the Red Cross, said four people were pronounced dead at the scene of the attack, which also wounded four others, one seriously.

The latest tragedy comes a day after violent clashes during an Israeli army raid left six Palestinians, including an Islamic Jihad fighter, dead in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
