Russia launched a major airstrike in Ukraine overnight, targeting the capital and cities from east to west, and air raid sirens wailed across much of the country for several hours, Reuters reported.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that, according to preliminary information, 28 out of 30 Iranian-made Shahed drones launched by Russia were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems.

“About 20 enemy objects were detected and destroyed in the airspace around Kyiv by the forces of our aviation and anti-aircraft defense,” Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv military administration, reported on the Telegram channel.

“Another massive airstrike on the capital,” Popko said.

The military administration in Lviv, a city of about 700,000 people located 70 km from the border with NATO member Poland, said Russia had hit “critical infrastructure” in the city, causing the fire.

According to the first data, there are no casualties.

Yury Malashko, head of the military administration of the Zaporizhia region in southeastern Ukraine, said that the Russian raid was aimed at telecommunications infrastructure and agricultural property.

There are no casualties in Zaporizhzhia.

The military command reported that, according to preliminary information, Russia fired seven missiles at Zaporizhzhia.
