Carlos Alcaraz says Nick Kyrgios has best chance to beat Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon 2023

The Serbian beat Alcaraz in the semi-finals at Roland Garros and now, just days before Wimbledon kicks off, the Iberian has revealed the player who has the best chance of beating the Joker at the All England Club.

“Nick Kyrgios has already played in the Wimbledon final and is impressive on grass. I’m not saying I’m not capable of beating Djokovic on this surface, but I think I have less of a chance than on clay or hard.

I think Kyrgios is the player most likely to stop Novak on grass. Nole and Roger are probably the best players ever on this surface” – Carlos Alcarazquoted by eurosport.co.uk.

At the 2022 tournament, Kyrgios reached the final of a major tournament in London, but was defeated by Djokovic in four sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3).

The Australian was absent from the world stage for several months, and after his return suffered a surprise defeat in Stuttgart against China’s Yibin Wu (this is actually the only match Kyrgios has played this season).

In fact, the Australian said last week that there was only one player who could beat Djokovic on grass and that was him.

“If I can’t beat Djokovic on grass, no one can” – Nick Kyrgiosfor Sky News.

Novak Djokovic won the All England Club in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.

If he wins this time on the London grass, the Serb will match Roger Federer, one of the main rivals in Nole’s career, for the number of Wimbledon trophies.

The Swiss lifted the trophy at Wimbledon in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2017.

Wimbledon is the third Grand Slam tournament of the season and will be held from July 3 to 16 on the grass of the All England Club in London. This will be the 136th draw, and the title champions were Olena Rybakina (female) and Novak Djokovic (male).
