A 79-year-old woman from Tirgu Mures complained to the police on Saturday that she was a victim of fraudsters.

“The woman handed over 10,000 euros to an unknown person, who had previously been contacted by a person who claimed to be a medical worker, and who, under the pretext that the called person’s daughter had been the victim of a traffic accident and for an emergency helicopter transport to a medical facility, would be told , that a significant amount of money is needed,” the Mures County Police announced, according to News.ro.

This is the second such case registered in just a few hours in the county of Mures.

On the night of Friday to Saturday, an 83-year-old woman reported to Sighisoara police that she had been contacted by a person to whom she had handed over 10,000 lei and other valuables, after a stranger told her that her niece was the victim of a serious accident and needs money for medical care.

“Criminal cases have been opened in both situations and the police are continuing their investigation to recover damages, identify those responsible and take legal action against them,” Mures County Police said.
