Swiss cyclist Gino Mader died at the age of only 26, L’Equipe journalists reported. Rowdy could not be saved after falling into a ravine during the fifth stage of the Tour of Switzerland.

The accident occurred at the final part of the fifth stage of the bicycle race in Switzerland. Gino lost control and fell into a ravine. He was urgently taken to the hospital by helicopter, but, unfortunately, it was not possible to save him.

Team Bahrain Victorious (to which the pilot belonged) also confirmed the death, which occurred on Friday afternoon.

“It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we have to announce the death of Gino Mader on Friday, June 16, following a very serious fall during stage 5 of the Tour de Switzerland.

Gino lost his battle to recover from the serious injuries he sustained.
