Coach Edi Iordenescu is confident ahead of the duel with Kosovo – Message for Yanis Hagi
In June, Romania will play two games in the qualifying group for the European Championship 2024 against Kosovo (June 16, 21:45) and Switzerland (June 19, 21:45).
With maximum points ahead of the match against Kosovo, coach Edi Iordenescu said in his pre-match press conference that he was confident, but stressed that the opposition should not be underestimated.
“I came with confidence, with enthusiasm, with good energy. We know that we have an important test against a qualifying opponent. I do not agree that a certain result can put someone out of the fight. We are at the beginning. Despite the successful start of the campaign, we have no guarantees of a positive result. For this you have to work and be able to suffer.
We are facing a rival who is not only valuable, but also highly motivated. An opponent who has a lot of individual qualities, who is in Europe’s top leagues and who has consistency.” – sent by the national team selector.
Edi Yordenescu also spoke about the possible disadvantage of the “tricolor”, given that the Super League ended earlier than other championships that also feature players from Kosovo.
“I think only about football. I’m glad there are more players than usual. I also had a minus. Some of our football players played the championship for more than a month, the opponents played later, in the Premier League, Serie A.
We must also find a solution to this problem to overcome this obstacle. I say with all my might that I have great faith in our potential. We have to overcome all the obstacles, the turf, everything.” – said Edi Iordanescu
The coach of the tricolor also turned to Yanis Hagi, who returned to the national team of Romania after missing the first two games in the group.
“He has been with us for a long time. I welcome his return. Unfortunately, we are missing some players who have health problems. But we have to score points, no time for alibis, just the facts. Janis came well, like many others. He fit well into the training process.
He came with an extra desire. It is much better than in March, it will be even better in September. He needs support. He has it from us! I am confident that he will be able to achieve and surpass his good form.” – concluded the breeder.
Also present at the press conference was Tudor Beluce, a footballer who won the Super League title with Farul Constanta.
“It’s an important game as they are all involved in previous matches. We come here with the idea of winning. But enough to say, it must be shown on the field. They are one of the contenders, beating them would be extremely important. I am confident in the group and what we have prepared. I want to show what we worked on in practice.
I don’t know how they will approach the game, we have to focus on our work. We are professional football players, we represent Romania and we have to adapt to everything.” – said the Mayaka player.
