The third-seeded Corych started the match well, but Macdonald balanced the match perfectly and eventually won the first set.

The second set unfolded according to a similar scenario, when the Americans managed to qualify for the third round of the competition.

The match lasted two hours and three minutes.

Mackenzie McDonald will meet Australian Rinki Hijikata (133 ATP) in the quarterfinals.
