
Nick Kyrgios will reveal in a Netflix documentary that he was admitted to a mental hospital after losing at Wimbledon in 2019, The Australian reports, Reuters reports.
In 2019, Kyrgios was defeated by Rafael Nadal in the second round of the Wimbledon tournament.
“I was really considering suicide,” Kyrgios said in an episode of the documentary Breaking Point.
“I lost at Wimbledon. I woke up and dad is sitting on the bed and crying. It was a wake-up call for me. I said to myself, “Okay, I can’t go on like this.” I got into a psychiatric hospital in London to solve my problems,” the Australian added.
Nick Kyrgios opened up about his mental health issues in an Instagram post last year.
“I can proudly say that I have completely changed and now I look at things completely differently. I want you to be able to reach your full potential and smile. This life is beautiful,” Kyrgios wrote at the time, quoted by News.ro.
Nick was in the Wimbledon final last year where he was defeated in four sets by Novak Djokovic.
