Billionaire and politician Silvio Berlusconi died at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan at the age of 86, writes Corriere della Sera. He returned to the hospital on Friday after a long stay – 45 days – which ended several weeks ago, due to pneumonia and a form of leukemia.
In the morning, his brother Paolo rushed to the hospital with the children, where Marta Fashina was already there.
He was recently admitted to a prestigious hospital to treat a debilitating condition linked to a lung infection, but his doctors discovered he was also suffering from chronic leukemia.
Berlusconi’s health has deteriorated significantly in recent years, with open-heart surgery in 2016 and multiple hospitalizations after contracting COVID-19 three years ago.
He was Prime Minister in 1994–1995, 2001–2006 and 2008–2011, and although he has no direct role in government, his Forza Italia party is a member of Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney’s right-wing coalition.
His career has also been marked by scandals and legal problems, which in the last decade have been mainly related to his famous “Bunga Bunga” sex parties.
The octogenarian, whose partner Marta Fashina was 53 years his junior, caused another scandal in December 2022 when he promised his players before a match that he would bring “a bus full of whores” to the dressing room if they won.
