Rise OUT association organized the third pride march in Iasi, which was attended by about 1000 people.
The participants gathered in front of the Alexander Ioan Kuza University, and then started the march to the center of Iasi. Dozens of participants of the action also appeared in the area of the university, who were kept at a distance by the gendarmes. The demonstrators shouted “Iasi is not Sodom”, whistled and booed.
Several people carried icons in their hands, and a woman brought incense. “Shame on them. Their parents don’t even know who their children are,” shouted one of the anti-LGBT demonstrators.
During the march, which took place along the route Copou – Bulevardul Independenţei – Str. Olena Doamnoi – str. Anastasie Panu – Palace of Culture, participants chanted “We are not ashamed”, “Solidarity”, “Equal rights for all”, “Jasi is love” and “Emancipation, not discrimination”.
The organizers of the event said that Iasi is a city where the diversity of the community should be accepted. The action was allowed by the city hall of Iasi.
The press service of the Archdiocese of Iași reacted on Saturday, clarifying in a press release that this is “a new march of those who promote unnatural attitudes and dehumanizing ideology.”
