A Syrian refugee who stabbed six people, including four young children, in a park in Annecy, a town in the French Alps, has been taken into custody, prosecutor Liné Bonnet-Mathis announced on Saturday, AFP reported.
The man was accused of “attempted murder” and “rebellion with weapons”, writes Agerpres.
Abdalmasih X “did not want to speak” both during the 48-hour arrest and in front of the two investigating judges who conducted the investigation, the prosecutor said during a press conference.
A man armed with a knife attacked several children, aged around 3, who were in a park near Lake Annecy around 09:45 local time (0745 GMT) on Thursday.
According to the publicized identity of the aggressor, he is a citizen of Syria, an asylum seeker and has no criminal record.
The man went to France eight months ago after being refused naturalization in Sweden, where he lived, his ex-wife and mother told AFP.
