“For the 2nd electoral district of Thessaloniki, which has been and is traditionally a strong stronghold of New Democracy, I want to bet that we can increase our percentages even more and be able to squeeze out the parties and small parties that suddenly came to power. first of all, without saying anything, evoking only feeling,” emphasized ND President Kyriakos Mitsotakis, addressing the residents of Oreiokastro, Thessaloniki.
“Obviously we are happy with our percentages, but it has not escaped my attention that the various parties and small groups to the right of New Democracy have scored quite high percentages. And I want to take this opportunity to reach out to all our fellow citizens who believe that there are parties, especially small parties, non-existent parties that we don’t know about, that can authentically express religious feelings,” said Mr. Mitsotakis. and continued:
“And I want to tell them that faith is not limited to some small parties. Faith and Orthodoxy unite, not separate. Caesar to Caesar and God to God. So, let those who want to be famous in hiding put aside this logic that they supposedly express the Church and Orthodoxy and some others are less Orthodox or less faithful than them. I don’t think these arguments will hold up today in the Greek society of 2023.
And I also want to reach out to those who talk very lightly about patriotism for the defense of the national interest and ask them to think: what kind of government was it that, through very great difficulties, succeeded and maintained the purpose of the country and made Greece much stronger today than it was in 2019 year?
We have invested in our Armed Forces in such a way that, in fact, in four years we have changed the balance of power in the Aegean.”
Regarding the June 25 elections, he said that “the stake on the ballot box is so important whether we continue on this path of stability and progress or turn back.”
He then referred to SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance President Alexis Tsipras, saying: “The leader of the official opposition in his speech yesterday, Mr. Tsipras, said something that I agree with. He said we vote for our lives. Yes, we vote for our lives, we vote for the lives of these little kids who, after graduating from a good public university, want to get a top job. So that they receive quality education in universities where we will have libraries, and not places of occupation and violence, as it was at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for decades.
We vote for our lives. And we vote for better jobs and higher wages, and the answer is that wage growth can only come from growth and private investment. And only the New Democracy government can attract this private investment. We vote for our lives. We are also voting for quality public health and for a national health system that will excel. It will be reformed, as we promised, and will be able to provide all citizens with quality medical care, regardless of whether they are in large cities or in the Greek region.”
“Let’s finish now what we started at the ballot box on May 21st. Let’s finish the work,” said Mr. Mitsotakis. Oreokastro Mayor Pantelis Tsakiris addressed the ND Chairman.
