
Ministry of Culture and Sports the 2022 State Prizes in Literature, Literary Translation and Children’s Books have been announced (for 2021 editions).
It is noted that the Prizes are awarded to authors who have served as their pen to the Art of the Word and have distinguished themselves by originality of writing, technique, perfection of narration, aesthetic quality and topics that promote dialogue on acute social issues.
State Literary Prize 2022
- The Letters Grand Prize goes to Maria Laina for her overall contribution to letters. Maria Laina, poet, prose writer, playwright, translator, curator, anthologist, teacher, radio producer, condenses the concept of a writer whose contribution to art is a clear contribution to life.
- The 2022 State Prize for Fiction is awarded by majority vote to Sotiris Dimitriou for Ouranos from Elsewhere, Pataki Publications.
- The 2022 National Short Story Novel Award is awarded by a majority vote to Nasia Dionisiou for her work What is a Plain, a Polis publication.
- The 2022 State Prize for Poetry is awarded by majority vote to Thanasis Hatsopoulos for Flags Under Construction, Polis publications.
- The State Prize for Essay Criticism 2022 is awarded by a majority vote to Panagis Panayiotopoulos for his work “The Adventures of the Middle Class”. Sociological Records in Late Postcolonial Greece, Epicentro Publications.
- The State Prize “For Testimony – Biography – Chronicle – Travel Literature 2022” is awarded by a half-vote majority to Tasula Verveniotis for her work “Civilians during the Greek Civil War”. The Dynamics of Memory, publications by Kukkida and Christos Kristidis for the work of Georgios Kartalis, publications of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation.
- The 2022 Special State Prize for a book that contributes significantly to dialogue on sensitive social issues is awarded by a majority vote to Hilde Papadimitriou for her work “Guilty Until Proven Guilty”, a Metaihmio publication.
It is noted that for 2022, the competent committee unanimously decided not to award the State Prize to a new author under the age of 35 and an honorary distinction to a literary journal.
Literary Translation Award
- The 2022 State Prize for the Translation of a Work of Foreign Literature into Greek is awarded to Giorgos Kentrotis for his translation of the work of Georg Trakl, All Poems, Roman Publications.
- The 2022 National Prize for Achievement in Ancient Greek Writing in Modern Greek is awarded to Nikolaos P. Besantakos for his translation of “Anthology of Ancient Greek Erotic Literature” (Volume I Poetry and Volume II Prose) published by the Beneficiary Book Distribution Association.
- The 2022 State Prize for the Translation of a Work from Greek into a Foreign Language is awarded equally to Panos Karagiorgos for the translation of the work of Kostis Palamas/Poetry Anthology, the editions of Filira and Loik Markou for the translation of the work of Didos Sotiriou. work, Elektra, H & O éditions publications.
Children’s Book Award
- The 2022 State Prize for Children’s Literary Books is awarded by majority vote to Argyro Pipini for Zaza (illustrated by Petros Bulumbasis), Kaleidoscope publications.
- The 2022 State Prize for Literature for Adolescents and Youth is awarded by majority vote to Manos Kontoleontas for The Captain’s Mask, Pataki’s publications.
- The State Prize for Illustrated Children’s Book 2022 is awarded by majority vote to illustrator Perce Zacharias and writer Mirto Kalofolia for their work titled “A Lonely Case, Kaleidoscope Publications”.
- The Book of Knowledge National Children’s Prize 2022 is awarded by majority vote to Aggeliki Darlasi for their work titled “Adults…”. small: Scholars (illustrated by Sofia Papadopoulou), publications by Metaihmio, and Vasya Exarchu for the work entitled “The Cyclades of the Cyclades” (illustrations by Vasya Exarchou, Dimitris Durabeis, Annie Dadouki), publications by Kedros.
