The local government, installed by the Russians in the occupied Nova Kakhovka, accused the Ukrainians of attacking civilians trying to escape from a district of the Kherson region flooded due to the explosion of a nearby dam.
As Volodymyr Leontiev, head of the city administration, reported on Russian television Wednesday morning, the Ukrainian Armed Forces sent an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that hit Novaya Kakhovka during an evacuation from flooded areas.
He added that about 100 people are currently stranded in New Kachofka and need to be evacuated due to flooding due to damage to the hydroelectric dam.
“Measures are being taken to rescue people who at the moment – about 100 people – need to be evacuated and are stuck in a Korsun residential building,” he told Russian state-run Channel One.
He also noted that every second a huge volume of water, estimated at more than 30,000 cubic meters, escapes from the Nova Kachofka reservoir.
