Norway’s Vipers Kristiansand, Rapid’s former quarter-final opponents, won the Final Four final in Budapest on Sunday.

Vipers Kristiansand won the Women’s Handball Champions League

In Sunday’s final, the Vipers prevailed over Hungarians from FTC Budapest 28-24 (14-13).

In the minor final, also on Sunday, Gyor ETO v Team Esbjerg, 28-27 (16-9).

The semifinals took place on Saturday, during which the Vipers beat Gyor 37-35, and FTK Budapest pulled off a surprise, eliminating the Danes from Esbjerg 30-29, writes News.ro.

Both of Romania’s Champions League representatives, CSM Bucharest and Rapid Bucharest, missed out on qualifying for the final four in Budapest.

Rapid Bucharest had an almost impossible mission in the quarter, with the trophy holder Vipers (Norway), with whom it lost both legs (25-31, 31-40). CSM Bucharest also suffered two defeats, with the Danes against Team Esbjerg (28-32, 31-33).

The last time Romania was represented in the Final Four was in 2018 when CSM Bucharest won the bronze medal, as in 2017 and following the trophy won in 2016.
