The Sanitas Federation explained that it is asking for the funding of the holiday vouchers from the state budget, as healthcare workers are the only public servants in Romania who have not used them since 2018.

The Sanitas Federation explained on Saturday why it requested funding from the state budget for vacation vouchers for healthcare workers, writes News.ro.

“Because currently health care workers are the only state employees who do not use this type of travel financing. The authorities have found financial resources for all other categories of employees of the budget system. For the health care system, these resources have not been available since 2018! Since the funding of vouchers is left to the discretion of the lending authority, it is clear that most hospitals cannot afford to allocate money for them, as they are barely able to cover their day-to-day costs!” reports Sanitar.

The Sanitas Federation also presented a number of arguments in favor of financing vacation tickets from the state budget.

“There are resources for other categories of state employees – why does the government practice such discrimination?; Leave vouchers play a role in supporting the physical and mental recovery of workers who bear the brunt of a system operating “on fire” that has faced a global pandemic that ensures the health of this country’s population. It was on this system and at the expense of these workers that the government planned to “save”?; If there were no sources of funding from the state budget for vouchers for recovery, how does the government explain the intention of the Senate to discuss the bill on providing vacation vouchers financed from the state budget for private sector employees?” Sanitas also clarifies.
