
Two years ago, Volvo presented her new infotainment system built on the basis of the Android system in partnership with Google.
Like the smartphones of the American giant, this new system includes Google applications and services, such as the Google Assistant voice assistant, GPS navigation connected via Google Maps, with traffic information and real-time updates, as well as many built-in applications available to download from Google Play, optimized for use in Volvo cars.
Volvo: remote software update
This infotainment system is connected, allowing it to take advantage remote software update (or OTA for “By air”) to keep the system up-to-date, add new features or fix possible errors and malfunctions.

The Swedish manufacturer has just introduced a new software update, the version 2.9 infotainment system: This is available on all Volvo cars worldwide that are equipped with the Google infotainment system. Not less than 650,000 cars signs are concerned.
Volvo: Better Apple CarPlay integration
More details in this update improves Apple CarPlay functionality and integration in compatible Volvo cars: users will now be able to display information from CarPlay directly on theirs digital instrument panel.
This applies, for example, to compatible GPS navigation applications such as Apple Maps or call information. You can also interact with CarPlay using the buttons on the steering wheel to answer, reject and end calls. Miniaturescentral screen now allow you to end a call and display multimedia information about the music currently playing, with improved interactions such as pausing and skipping titles.
This software update also makes other changes that allowimprove the driving experience : it will now be possible to switch between the driver assistance functions (Pilot Assist and adaptive cruise control) using the buttons on the steering wheel or to activate or not the automatic folding of the exterior mirrors when the car is locked. This version 2.9 also includes minor engine calibration optimizations as well as bug fixes.
