Daria Kasatkina clean win with Peyton Stearns

The ninth favorite of the competition in Paris, Kasatkina won a convincing victory over the American Peyton Stearns with a score of 6-0, 6-1.

The athlete from Russia dictated the pace, hit much more accurately than her opponent (12 unforced errors, and Peyton – 30) and almost always played on the first serve (93%).

Know:

  • Daryna will face the winner of the match between Russian Anna Blinkova (56 WTA) and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (192 WTA).
  • At the age of 21, Stearns is coached by Gabriel Trifu, captain of the Romanian Davis Cup team. In the previous round, she eliminated Elena Ostapenko (champion of 2017).

The Roland Garros tournament takes place from May 28 to June 11, has a total prize pool of 49.6 million euros, and is the 127th tournament. Iga Sviatek and Rafael Nadal (14-time winner in Paris) became the champions of the title.
