Their intense reflections on the theatrical production with which they are planned to be presented at Ancient Epidaurus V “Medea” Frank Castorf, wasps“Lena Kitsopulu and”Patronยป Sarandos Georgios Zervulakos, in his context Athens festivalmembers of the Central Archaeological Council said yesterday at a meeting.

In particular, in relation to Castorf’s Medea, objections were mainly raised about the presence, albeit “broken”, of the logo of a well-known soft drink company in its scenery: whether this is considered advertising or slander, the presence of the logo was considered problematic . Some concerns have also been raised about the screen (measuring 10 by 5 meters) which will have the logo in one corner and be supported by scaffolding, which in turn will “walk” between the orchestra and the stage of the Ancient Theater of Epidaurus. which is not covered by the relevant terms and conditions. What will be shown on the screen (including a red room with a pole for dancing in the middle) also caused concern.

For their part, the Wasps wowed the council members with a seven-foot basketball hoop that was to take center stage on the stage. Filoktitis, which will be directed by Sarandos Georgios Zervulakos in Mikri Epidaurus, raised concerns about the water tank it would include, leading to some concerns about potential leaks.

The CAS members decided – after the approval of other manufacturers’ kits – to invite the participants of the three specific manufacturers to a new board meeting so that they have the opportunity to provide clarifications and answer questions.

House of Hatsikiriaku-Ghika

The CAS previously conditionally approved a study on the restoration of the historic house of Nikos Hatsikiriakos-Ghikas in Hydra, which includes the use of the building as a private residence with guest houses. The conditions include an obligation not to change the appearance, to be labeled with its own history, and to take into account the placement of solar panels in the surrounding area.

Built on a steep site with a rocky backdrop, it consists of a central building of 900 sq.m. divided into four levels, the artist’s house contained a workshop, a second building that was probably the caretaker’s house, a dovecote, and an unknown third building, of which traces have been preserved.

The artist spent his childhood there in the summer, worked for a while and once hosted Henry Miller. Additions were made to the property in 1946, but it burned to the ground in 1961.

The building is currently owned by private individuals, but any interference with the structures of the historic settlement must be approved by the Ministry of the Interior. Thus, according to the study proposed by the competent authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (and also based on the materials of the painter), the “Keresba” (stone) house will be restored to its original form using original building materials. (stone, wood), while the use of cement will be excluded.
