The United States on Wednesday unblocked a new tranche of $300 million in military aid to Ukraine, including missiles for Patriot air defense systems, the Pentagon announced in a press release, AFP reported.
As Russia steps up its bombing of Ukraine’s major cities, the US Department of Defense said it would immediately provide additional munitions from its stockpile for the Patriots already in Kyiv, as well as the Khymars artillery systems.
Kyiv, which has announced preparations for a counteroffensive, will also receive Avenger and Stinger short-range anti-aircraft systems, shells for its artillery and tanks, as well as millions of bullets and other ammunition for its soldiers, the document says.
Thanks to this new tranche, the total amount of US military aid provided to Kyiv since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 is $37.6 billion.
