Venizelos for Pagalos: the symbolic physiognomy of the post-colonial period.

In a statement of condolences on his death Theodoros Pagalos the former minister and former president of PASOK continued, Evangelos Venizelos.

Detailed statement by Evangelos Venizelos:

“Theodoros Pangalos has been through history since a very young age. He entered the post-colonial landscape, having already accumulated knowledge, academic titles and political experience mainly from the field of the communist left. Suitable turbine PASOK. Under the auspices of Andreas Papandreou, Theodoros Pangalos has identified himself with Greece’s militant and active involvement in European integration and has best expressed the view that the EU is a field of constant and tough negotiations.

He did so in his own dynamic personal style, but with full knowledge of the real power relationships and established limits. He has linked his name to the great moments of all periods of PASOK’s rule and to historical successes such as the accession of Cyprus to the European Union. It has also been associated with particularly difficult moments such as Imiya and the Öcalan case. He lacked neither trials nor experience. And in the painful period of the economic crisis and unpopular decisions, he firmly stood on the right side of History. We coexisted as ministers of many governments, and finally, as vice-presidents of two governments during the crisis period. We agreed and disagreed with estimates and individual manipulations. I have the feeling that I have become well acquainted with the multifaceted, controversial and charming Theodore Pagalos, this symbolic figure of the post-colonial period, and not just of his party space, and I sadly say goodbye to him as a friend. My condolences to Christina, his children, all his people.”
