
The Greek Police Headquarters has suspended five policemen who were arrested in Evros by the Internal Affairs Service in the case of facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants into the country.
They were prosecuted for serious crimes. In particular, criminal proceedings were initiated against five police officers (one non-constable and four senior constables) for, as the case may be, offenses related to facilitating the uncontrolled entry of third-country nationals, for leading, forming and joining a criminal organization, for bribery employee, abuse of official position, removal from abroad of third-country nationals who do not have the right to enter Greece, and for violation of official secrecy.
One of the police chiefs, who is said to be the leader of the group and gives instructions to others, was charged with leading a criminal organization after he contacted the four foreigners involved in the case who live in Turkey and reported the arrival of illegal immigrants at the borders.
In particular, according to the investigation, it was this guard who allegedly first came into contact with one of the traffickers in Turkey and gradually deceived others.
