Nammos: “Window” for the opening of a restaurant-bar

The Ministry of the Environment is preparing the ground for the voluntary demolition of some of the illegal Nammos sites. In today’s document, he instructs the Syros Construction Service to cancel the imposed stop-work order so that the company can proceed with the demolition of illegal buildings.

However, The two main buildings where environmental inspectors found the excess of “legalization”, the ministry postpones their inspection, instead of already checking papers with reality. In any case, this guide offers a “compromise solution” to reopen the part of Nammos that was sealed off a week ago.

In a document sent today by the ministry to the Decentralized Administration of the Aegean (responsible for demolition on the coast), the agency is requested to proceed with the demolition of the violations registered in Nammos, with the exception of those found in the two main buildings. (520 sq.m. and 39 sq.m.). However, an alternative is provided: “Unless they have already undergone the process of voluntary demolition or demolition by private testament after the issuance of a work permit,” it says. The city planner of Syros is then asked to approve Nammos’ request to demolish the illegals by the same means. Scheduling approval is required because a work stop has been introduced and any work in a certain area can result in an arrest through the autoforo procedure.

As for the order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? Building 32 sq.m. on the back side of the complex there are two containers and four tanks. According to K, the containers and tanks have already been taken out.

The treatment of the rest, however, does not seem clear. In the conclusion of the environmental inspection were recorded works in a building of 520 sq.m. and in the toilet building 39 sq.m.. As stated in the opinion, the buildings are not subject to the zoning declaration, “because the outlines, dimensions, total area, internal arrangement and views do not correspond to the declared.”

Thus, the procedure followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not seem adequate: the ministry should have initially checked the settlement declarations (and the real situation) to determine which part of the buildings should be considered for demolition.

In addition, since both buildings are located within a zone of 100 meters from the embankment, in which construction has been completely prohibited since 2005 (with the Residential Control Zone of the island), it should be checked for violations not earlier than 2011 (the date of the “red line”). ยป arbitrary laws), but until 2005, which the Inspectors also indicate in all their findings on Mykonos. In any case, if it is found that the current situation of the buildings is different, the declaration of regularization must be withdrawn, since formally the two buildings … are still legal.

Nammos’s side, however, is moving in parallel with the ministry, exploiting its own mishandling of the case: it has requested and appointed by the Technical Chamber two experts who will study the legalizations.

According to the business side, if the remaining violations are removed and it is found that the deviations in the two buildings are small, then the decision to seal the Concept restaurant-bar should be cancelled.

The Ministry of Environment in its document refers to TEE experts – however, TEE is not a state body, unlike Syros city planners and environmental inspectors.
