
Animal shelterShelter Takis» its president visited New Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakisas part of his tour of Regional division of Lasithi.
Mr. Mitsotakis was given a tour of the shelter, which houses over 400 dogs and other homeless or sick animals, and was informed about its purpose and activities by its founder and owner, Takis Proetakis.
He congratulated Takis Proetakis on his work, and for his part noted that the legislative initiatives taken by the New Democracy government to protect and care for animals went very well to the work of the shelter and animal protection organizations.
“You have untied our hands,” he said characteristically. “This is the first time this has actually been implemented,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis replied, referring to the network of legal provisions for pets.
Takis Shelter is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to saving and caring for homeless animals in Ierapetra, Crete. The owner of the shelter, staff and volunteers treat stray animals, sterilize them, care for them and provide them for adoption, mainly in foreign countries.
