Technical setting
While pricing details have not been determined, Jim Farley wanted to reassure customers that Ford is committed to bringing prices back. “how affordable and competitive”. According to Elon Musk, the adapter needed to charge Ford cars on the Tesla Supercharger should cost “in the hundreds of dollars”.
Currently, Ford has a network of about 10,000 fast charging stations for its own electric vehicles. From 2025 New Ford electric models will be equipped with a connector compatible with Tesla Superchargersthus eliminating the need for a special adapter.
Agreement between Tesla and the government
The opening of the Tesla Supercharger network to other brands is the result of an agreement reached between Tesla and the White House last February. As part of this agreement, Tesla has promised to open up at least 7,500 chargers to other manufacturerscontributing to the expansion of electric charging infrastructure across the country.
This decision was made after recognizing the critical need to further develop a network of charging stations to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the United States.
In a discussion with Jim Farley, Elon Musk emphasized that Tesla wants its Supercharger network to support electrification and green transportation in general.
