On the place where the famous greenhouses of the Porte d’Auteuil complex were located, the French organizers built the Simonne Mathieu arena. This is the third largest arena at Roland Garros, and it can be called a “hidden arena”.

Simon Mathieu, one of the most spectacular stadiums of Roland Garros – The Hidden Arena

In 2019, Roland Garros officials officially opened the arena that will replace the Bullring (the circular stadium that was demolished and replaced with a cute little park where fans can watch all the matches in the complex from a deck chair).

If it’s your first time at Roland Garros, you might have a hard time finding the arena. It is located separately and further from all other stadiums, being on the site of the famous greenhouses of the complex.

It is hidden by beautiful and dense vegetation that can instantly make you think that you are a few steps away from visiting a botanical garden.

It should be said from the outset that it offers incredible visibility for spectators, regardless of where you are in the stands.

In addition, it is sleek and very close to the court (it can appear that the stands actually protrude above the playing area), which gives an incredible feeling of proximity to the players dueling on the ground.

With 5,000 seats, it is the third largest after the enormous Philippe Chatrier and Suzanne Lenglen.

Located in the southeast of the complex, on the site of the famous Sere D’Auteuil, the stadium offers the premiere of eco-green constructions, being one of the main attractions of the Paris event.

A semi-submerged arena surrounded by tropical plants from four continents (America, Africa, Oceania and Asia).
