“At the level of the Vrancha county, the hunting fund has a degree of loading from the point of view of a brown bear of about 103 copies. At the moment, according to experts’ estimates, more than 500 brown bears live in the forests of Vrancha,” said Nikushor Halici, Agerpres reports.

Considering the situation last weekend, when bears were reported several times in Soveia, where they entered people’s households and caused significant damage, the prefect Nikusor Halici called a meeting with the mayors of the affected areas, with the managers of the hunting funds and from other institutions that have obligations on the management of this phenomenon, whom he asked to act firmly by following the provisions of the law to protect the lives of citizens and their assets.

“I do not accept that the lives and integrity of the residents of Vrancha are being questioned. The presence of wild animals, especially bears, in public places, near households or even on the street can threaten people’s lives and safety. This must be stopped because the risk is already very high. Even if we have no victims until this moment, I do not tolerate for a moment the passivity of the authorities and institutions that are making every effort to prevent any incident between the bear and the community,” Galici said.

He appealed to the city mayors to conclude contracts on the provision of permanent services with managers of hunting funds of the district, with the aim of taking immediate measures to prevent and counter brown bear attacks.

According to the prefect, mayors can order, in accordance with the law, a number of measures in the event of the presence of bears in populated areas, such as driving away, tranquilizing and relocating or shooting, depending on the circumstances, depending on the current danger. . Decisions by the mayor and the response team formed by emergency personnel at the time of the emergency signal by calling the single emergency number 112.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Vrancha County Gendarmerie Inspection, the Fokshan Forest Guard, the Vrancha Environmental Protection Agency, the Vrancha County Police Department, the Vrancha County Police Inspectorate, the Vrancha Veterinary and Food Safety Department, the Vrancha Forestry Department, and the heads of hunting funds. 22 mayors and 15 managers of hunting funds were invited.
