“China congratulates President Erdogan on his re-election,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said.

“We encourage Turkey to pursue a development path that suits its national circumstances, and we hope that Turkey will continue to make progress in its development under the leadership of President Erdogan,” the spokeswoman added.

Beijing, according to Mao, “attaches great importance to relations with Turkey.”

“In recent years, under the leadership of the two heads of state, the two countries have developed cooperation that has borne fruit in many areas for the benefit of our two peoples,” he continued.

“China is ready to work with Turkey to take our strategic cooperation relationship to new heights,” the spokeswoman added.
