TO Giannis Nyarros I do not like “good” roles. He played an autistic child in “Who Killed the Dog at Midnight” and performed on stage for three seasons as George Gerakaris, a son tied to his dysfunctional family in “Stella Dream” among many others.
In fact, the actor also received Horn Award for a role in his show Yannis Economides, with whom he subsequently collaborated on its musical adaptation “Matchbox”, directing and writing music for one of last winter’s most talked about shows.
However, he also starred in “Players”theatrical performance of Nikolai Gogol’s work George Cutlis, as a card player-combiner. After two years of sold-out audiences, the show is getting ready to air in one summer Tour, which will begin on Wednesday 21 June at the Teatro Katrakeio in Nice and end with two performances (19 and 20 July) at Papago Municipal Garden Theater.
What does he himself do so that his enthusiasm plays the same role again and again? He invents new tricks and tries not to take himself too seriously.

– And just trying to make this activity interesting and for you also gives you a lot as an actor, because it keeps you in suspense, does not let you get bored, not to do the same things. It is not easy.
– You do it as a game for yourself, every night you think about it. Everyone deals with it in their own way, I tell myself: “Don’t do what you did yesterday.”
“You would definitely see him at the gambling club. You will also see him closer to you, a guy who wants to get along with everyone, who tells everyone what they want to hear. It can be a person of any qualification, from a boss to an employee, to an artist, a politician, someone who wants to please.
“It’s definitely more interesting than playing the good guys. No role is boring, but these darker roles give you the opportunity to do things you won’t do in your life (hopefully). They intrigue you much more.
– Yes, because you no longer see heroes in them, but you see yourself in this state. So the question is no longer to please someone, but to understand yourself in this situation, to be yourself, the true manifestation of yourself.
– No, I did not have such psychological breakdowns.

– Those who are not all right are afraid. I don’t know if their outlook has changed, but they are definitely afraid to express themselves, and that’s good.
– In order to radically change, human nature must also change, which is very difficult. There will always be people who want to abuse their power and harm another. It doesn’t change with movement. But things are getting better, and there is hope.
– Yes, this must be stopped, because it is also harmful to work, the fear of the director does not help. It was very common.
No, we broke. Neither I nor anyone else would tolerate this. And many times the above is done under the pretext of respect, you say, “Okay, kid, he’s big, he’s very respected in this area, don’t argue with him.” But there is no such thing between us, there is mutual respect, it is something more equal and more complex. There will be a dialogue among the youth.
“Nothing crazy, within reasonable limits and on a funny scale. Whatever purchases I wore when I was little, I still wear them now, I don’t fly. I won’t go crazy either, I understand that all this is subjective and stupid in the end, what you did and what you didn’t do.
– I think that there is some truth in this, more in the sense that it is convenient for you to expose parts of yourself, your body. It’s not about how smug you are, it’s about being comfortable with flaunting yourself and wanting to do it.
“Some parts were very easy. It’s much easier for me to fool around and joke, but it’s harder to get upset or angry on stage. It’s what you struggle with when you play.
– Yes, in all works and achievements or failures, you should always look at it comically. You’re a tiny speck in the universe, who cares?
– Yes, unfortunately, I have to prove to myself and others that I do this professionally. It would be nice if that didn’t happen. Let what you see be a blank sheet of paper, not knowing who you came to. In this sense, being an amateur is a much more pleasant state for perceiving art and oneself. And the other person comes to the play and sees the role, not the actor. It would be an ideal world. But the more you play, the more people can come to see you. Its advantage is that it is easier to confirm what the other person means, good or bad. That’s where the purpose of the thing, of what you really see, gets lost.

“It’s very nice to play with someone you don’t know and discover him as an actor along the way.
“It’s easier with kids because they are more well-intentioned and really came to a friend’s party to have a good time. And in the theater it is a very common occurrence that a person has come, whom someone “pulled” because he has obligations.
Yes, but they are much more friendly. You make fun of them, and that’s okay. They are here to have a good time, no matter how stupid you are, as long as you show that you are here for them to have a good time, that is enough.
– Saved a lot. The sloppiness that is needed, this theater starts with me putting something in my head and joking. Even if you go to play Epidaurus, the basics will remain the same. You put on something, disguise yourself, say a few words, it’s not that shocking.
Well, unfortunately, that’s always the case with me.
– I agree, of course. We don’t have to deal with something so shocking. We all want to be more than we are. But when we accept ourselves for who we are, things get much better.
