German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday tried to minimize a breach in his security – a 50-year-old man who approached him. on Wednesday to greet him and who took him in his arms, under the eyes of the closest security device, on the runway of Frankfurt airport, an incident that is considered unacceptable by the German Interior Minister Nancy Feser, according to AFP.

“When people say hello and greet me, it’s not something that impresses me, it’s a completely normal thing, and I don’t see this situation as dramatic,” Olaf Scholz commented at a press conference during a visit to Tallinn. in Estonia, quoted by News.ro.

“The police work well, I feel safe,” he tried to assure.

But his home secretary, Nancy Phaser, was less diplomatic about the police and the chancellor’s personal security team.

“Such an incident should not happen again,” she told reporters on Friday during the trip.

“Now the interested parties will find out what exactly happened, what mistakes were made, so that this does not happen again in the future,” she said.

The events happened on Wednesday evening at the runway of the Frankfurt airport.

The chancellor was returning from an event organized at the European Central Bank (ECB) and had just left for the track with a government convoy.

The police did not see that the man was following the convoy – without permission – and that he entered this area, where he did not have access.

After Chancellor Olaf Scholz got out of the car, a 50-year-old man approached him, shook his hand and took him in his arms.

Then he was detained by security, and the prosecutor’s office opened an investigation.
