The aviation and space salon has been held every two years in the Moscow region since 1993. This year, it will be canceled due to security reasons, according to an article published by Kommersant newspaper.

Earlier, the Russian agency ITAR-TASS reported that the event will take place next year. This year, the MAX Salon was to be held from July 25 to 30.

MAKS is one of the largest aerospace exhibitions in the world and is organized at Zhukovsky Military Airport, approximately 50 kilometers southeast of central Moscow.

At the latest editions, Russia presented new models of helicopters and fighters. President Vladimir Putin is a regular guest of the event.

In 2021, commercial contracts worth 3 billion dollars were signed at the exhibition.

According to Russian media, Moscow’s air defense assets are on high alert following a drone attack on the Kremlin earlier this month, and radio jamming, used to prevent other potential similar attacks, is causing the traditional aerial demonstrations that take place during the MAKS show , cannot be performed.

The traditional Victory Day air parade in Moscow’s Red Square was also canceled this year after the May 3 incident. It was also canceled last year, citing “weather conditions” by the Kremlin.
