
The authorities are investigating new cases of deception of citizens by various methods in Kefalonia, Lefkada and Corfu.
The methods used by scammers are as follows: they post fake ads on social networks and deceive interested parties by swindling bank codes. They pose as electricians or accountants and extract the codes.
From the General Regional Police Directorate of the Ionian Islands it is reported that recently its services have registered and investigated cases of deception of unsuspecting citizens, in which shrewd people extorted money under various pretexts and tricks. In particular, in Lefkada, Corfu and Kefalonia, 4 different cases were recorded when unknown persons, by posting relevant ads on a social network, managed to receive amounts of 1,000, 3,120, 5,960 and 2,640 euros as advance payments for the sale of vehicles . without completing the agreed sales.
In addition, in two separate incidents in Kefalonia, citizens reported that vigilantes who contacted them by phone, posing as employees of the electricity supply company and the accounting department, stole their online banking codes and withdrew 2,880 and 13,000 euros.
Finally, a citizen of Kefalonia complained that an unknown assailant took from him the amount of 1,000 euros as an advance payment for renting a house without concluding a relevant contract.
