Gina Politis, who passed away yesterday at the age of 93, had a higher academic education. Educated at Columbia University, he was a Ph.D. in English Literature and its Fellow. Churchill College taught for a number of years at Cambridge. After post-colonization, he began teaching at the University of Thessaloniki, a glorious era when AUTH had teachers like Dimitris Maronitis And G. P. Savvidis. She began publishing her work—essays and prefaces for Greek and foreign authors—after her university career ended. Agra was his publishing house. Books and her studies in English, Greek and comparative literature have also been published abroad. “He had a unique way of thinking, very thoughtful, with a cosmopolitan approach,” recalls Mr Petsopoulos.
She was his fan Odysseus Elytis, whom he met at a young age and has since become friends with him while he deeply studied his work. “The poetry of Elytis sowed stars on the dome of my soul,” she wrote in her monograph “The Eternal Nests of the Return to the Poetry of Odysseus Elytis” (Agra, 2013). “Gina Politis” – reads the dedication in the collection of poems by the Nobel laureate poet called “Six and one regrets about the sky.”
In 1998 she was awarded the Outstanding University Teaching and Research Award by ITE, in 2007 she received the Essay Award from Diavazo magazine for her book On Sin, Passion and Other Things, and in 2011 she was awarded premium. “Give Salvation” authors’ societies.
