Investigative orders-express, elections 25.06

As he stated from election night, Mr. Prime Minister received at 12.30 yesterday a preliminary order for the formation of a government and returned it at 17.00 by phone, as stated in the official communication of Mr. Mitsotakis “considers that there are no conditions for the formation of a government by the current parliament.”

This is what the Prime Minister said in telephone conversations with political leaders, with the President of SYRIZA Alexis TsiprasPASOK President Nikos Androulakisgeneral secretary of the KKE Dimitris Koutsouba and President of Hellenic Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos. The Prime Minister informed the political leaders that the Government would propose to expedite the convening and dissolution of the new parliament so that parliamentary elections could take place on 25 June, in line with the logic he expressed on the night of the great victory, stating: “The political earthquake that has occurred calls on all of us to speed up the process the final state decision on the spot, so that our homeland will be at the helm with an experienced hand as soon as possible.

At the Presidential Palace

The Prime Minister explained this rationale to the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, noting that the election results leave no room for the formation of a government and, moreover, show a clear mandate from the citizens to emerge and form a government based on their own forces. Mr. Mitsotakis’ intention from the beginning was to have an investigative mandate as defined by the Constitution, but the process has made it clear that it will be shaped based on the outcome, what happened and what happened. After the huge difference on election night, it becomes clear that the will of the Greek people is the continuation of the same path, so there is no reason for delay, since “the country has unresolved problems and issues and cannot remain without them.” leadership”.

There is another reason for speeding up the election to June 25 instead of July 2, government sources say, “apart from the conclusion drawn from the results as to what the people who voted want.” In particular, an important European Council will be held on June 28-29, “in which there should be a strong political representation of the country,” according to the same sources.

In terms of procedures, yesterday’s parliament will be sworn in next Sunday and dissolved on Monday. Today, the order of investigation will pass to Mr. Alexis Tsipras, followed by Mr. Nikos Androulakis. Both are expected to present it immediately as SYRIZA has suffered a crushing defeat in any discussions with the other party and Mr. Androulakis, as it became clear from the evening of the electoral process, considers the result especially positive for his party and he is not going to enter the process government formation.
