Both took place after the super-tiebreak of the Russian-Ukrainian couple Iryna Khromacheva – Valery Strahova after 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.

The opponents in the second round will be determined after the match between Sabrina Santamaria (USA) / Yana Sizikova (Russia) and Timea Babos (Hungary) / Anna Danilina (Kazakhstan).
Monica Niculescu’s Japanese partner Makoto Ninomiya is the reigning doubles champion of the Rabat tournament together with her compatriot Eri Hozumi.
The Rabat Grand Prix is the only WTA outdoor clay court tournament in Africa with a total prize pool of $251,750.
