Russia launched an air strike Sunday night into Monday on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, officials said early Monday morning, while Ukrainian media reported on a series of explosions.
At least one person was seriously injured as a result of drone strikes and missiles. A 27-year-old man was the victim of a rocket attack. The UAV crashed in the village of Ilarionovskaya, Synniksky district. According to the regional administration, seven people were injured, two women aged 52 and 70 are in the hospital.
The RBC-Ukraine news agency reported that during the air raid alert, which lasted more than 90 minutes, about 15 explosions were heard in the Dnieper. Among the affected buildings in the city is a kindergarten.
The governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region, whose administrative center is Dnipro, praised the defenders: “Thanks to the defense forces, we withstood the attack. Details will come soon,” Governor Sergei Lishak said on messaging app Telegram, calling the Russian forces “terrorists.”
With a Ukrainian counterattack looming, Russia this month resumed missile and drone strikes after a nearly two-month lull. Waves of attacks now come several times a week, the most intense of the entire war.
