Holger Rune (seventh favourite) qualified for the Masters final in Rome on Saturday, the Dane beating Kasper Ruud (4th seed at the Forum Italico).

The Dane (who knocked out Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals) had to come from 0-1 down to reach the grand final.

Ruud won the first set in a tiebreak (7-2) and Roone won the next two, 6-4, 6-2. The match lasted two hours and 44 minutes.

In Sunday’s final, Holger Roon will face the winner of the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas (5th seed) and Daniil Medvedev (3rd seed).

The Rome Masters takes place from May 10 to 21 on clay, is part of the ATP 1000 category, has a total prize money of €7,705,780, Novak Djokovic is the reigning champion and Rafael Nadal holds the record for titles at the Italian Forum (10 ).
