The 19-year-old attacking midfielder is of Egyptian origin and was signed from FC Cikszered Merkur Chuk, having been the best player of the U19 team last season, the U19 Elite League champion and the U19 Elite Cup winner after the final, which was also held in Julesti.

Omar played for FC Cikszereda in the Youth League, where he scored a goal against Galatasaray. He was promoted to the first team this season, where he played in 21 games, scoring one goal.

El Sawy wore the national uniform in all three qualifying matches for the U19 European Championship.

Born in Tirgu Mures, new midfielder Giulesti has signed a five-year contract with Rapid and will join the team at the squad meeting next season.

“It is a great honor for me to represent this club. I have no words to describe what I feel right now. This is my first transfer in the literal sense of the word. The fact that I represent this team makes me very happy.

A year ago, also on May 19, it was at this stadium that I and my former team won the Elite Cup. I remember how I felt when I stepped onto the field and saw this impressive stadium. I don’t believe in the universe sending you signs, but the fact that I’m signing with Rapid on the same day I scored and won the Cup is a beautiful coincidence.

I will definitely give everything for the fans of Rapid and this club. This is an extraordinary place to grow. The project followed by this team is progressive. I want to be part of this project. I want to help “Rapidul” become the champion and enter the Champions League.

When I received an offer from the club, I felt great joy. Even though I stayed to analyze this decision, I didn’t want to rush, my heart was already here” – Omar El Sawyquoted by Rapid.
