Ferrari immediately started an investigation into the problem and at the same time, as a precaution, decided to start modifying this element by adding insulating material.
Ferrari engineers have since concluded that the cause of the problem is a chemical reaction that occurs during involuntary contact between the aluminum tube and the steel of the high-voltage battery cover.
Ferrari 296 GTB / GTS: fuel leak to be repaired
Although such a situation is not a reason for excessive anxiety, it is possible that in this case fuel leak occurs at the exact location of corrosion that there is a possibility that a fire will break out there.
So far, the jumping company is not aware of any serious situation that has occurred on one of them 425 copies 296 GTB and 296 GTS released in 2021 and 2022. But as a precaution, Ferrari decided to contact the owners of the models to ask them not to drive their new car.
Owners are encouraged to entrust their car to an official authorized Ferrari dealer from 7 July 2023 to replace this hose with a new tube, this time covered with an anti-corrosion sealing rubber material, which should prevent any possibility of fuel leakage and therefore accidental ignition.
