With no matches to be played in 2023, Nick Kyrgios had to postpone his return to the ATP and announce his defeat at Roland Garros. The Australian’s agent explained that the Wimbledon finalist has recovered from knee surgery, but another problem is keeping him off the tennis court.

Nick Kyrgios was shot in the leg during an armed robbery

Daniel Horsfall, ATP agent No. 26, said he cut his leg near his little finger after trying to help his mother during an armed robbery at his Canberra home on May 1.

“During the attack, Nick cut his right leg. We don’t know how. This caused a delay of two and a half weeks in his preparation for Roland Garros. If he moves across the field, the wound may reopen.

It’s a shame because his knee is fantastic after surgery. He was very well before this accident. His physical form is at a fantastic level. Just when we reached the last point of ascent, this strange incident happened” – Daniel Horsfallquoted by Reuters.

The man was arrested shortly after the robbery after Kyrgios helped police by using an app on his phone to locate the car.

Nick Kyrgios can return to the court with the start of the grass season at the tournament in Stuttgart (June 12-18).

Nick Kyrgios entered Roland Garros

As reported by L’Equipe, on Tuesday, Nick Kyrgios officially announced the end of his career at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris (May 28 – June 11).

The 2022 Wimbledon finalist was also scheduled to play an exhibition match with Holger Rooney (May 24 in Copenhagen), but Kyrgios promised fans that the meeting would take place later.

This will be the sixth year in a row that Nick will not be playing on clay in Paris. Kyrgios has said in the past that clay is “the biggest mess”, but he appears to have changed his mind during the Houston tournament, saying that the surface suits him (after defeating Mackenzie Macdonald).
