Iga Sviatek was injured during a match with Olena Rybakina in the quarterfinals of the WTA Rome

The athlete from Poland won the first set 6-2 and led 4-2 in the second set, but her game began to creak and the reigning Wimbledon champion took the match to a decider by winning the tie-break (7-3).

With the score 2-2 in the third set, the leader of the world ranking announced that he could not continue the game. She attributed it to pain in her right hip and did not want to risk a more serious injury before Roland Garros (May 28-June 11).

Iga Svyatek’s refusal from Poland took place after two hours and 18 minutes of play.
