Middlesbrough and Coventry clash in the play-off final decider after a 0-0 draw in the first leg at the CBS Arena.

Middlesbrough finished 4th in the Championship with 75 points, 16 points behind Sheffield United, the 2nd placed team who went straight up with Championship winners Burnley.

Since the summer of last year, the team has been coached by Michael Carrick, a former player of the England national team and captain of Manchester United, who began his career as a technician in 2021, when for a short period he temporarily performed duties directly on the bench of the “Devils”.

Middlesbrough last played in the Premier League in 2016-17 and have since spent six years in the Championship, reaching the promotion play-offs for the second time since losing in the semi-finals in 2018, 0-1 at home and 0-0 at away from Aston Villa.

Middlesbrough have the League Cup won in 2004 and were finalists in the 2005-06 UEFA Cup (now Europa League), 0-4 against Sevilla in Eindhoven.

Coventry finished 5th in the Championship with 70 points, just one more than 7th placed Blackburn.

Coventry have not played in the Premier League since the 2000-01 season, when they were relegated after 34 consecutive seasons, and at the end of the 2016-17 season they reached League Two, the fourth tier of football in England.

Since 2017, the team has been coached by Mark Robins (a former player who won the Cup Winners’ Cup and European Super Cup with Manchester United in 1991), with whom he oversaw promotion to League One (2018) and the Championship (2020) respectively.

Coventry have one FA Cup in their history, won in 1987.

Coventry beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at home in the regular season in the Championship and drew 1-1 in the second leg.

Superbet offers odds of 1.62 on the PsF1 prediction: the home team will lead at half-time or win at the end of the match Middlesbrough – Coventry.
