​Education Minister Lygia Deka said on Tuesday evening that he hoped not to reach a general strike in education in the coming days after further discussions with trade unionists. According to her, many things do not belong to the Ministry of Education, but she expressed her belief that the ZNO will not be disrupted.

“I still hope that we will not find ourselves in a situation where a protest strike will be provoked,” Ligia Deka told Digi 24 on Tuesday night.

Asked about the risk of disrupting year-end exams, Deka said: “We have to accept this statement also in the logic of union negotiations.” “It would be an unacceptable sacrifice if this generation of students could not complete their bachelor’s, bachelor’s degree… and there is still a long way to go,” the education minister said, according to news.ro.

Ligia Deka expressed her belief that no one – neither the governors, nor the teachers, nor the trade unions want to boycott the exams.

The minister repeated the idea of ​​a meeting with trade unions on May 9.

“By the way, we discussed what we in the Ministry of Education can do to reduce dissatisfaction and prevent such a gesture. Many things do not belong to the Ministry of Education at all, tomorrow we will have a new meeting with the heads of pre-university trade unions,” the Minister of Education also noted.

Deka said he hoped to have meetings in the coming days with representatives of the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Finance and the government “who can advance the discussions also on the salary scale”.

“This issue is probably the most painful,” Ligia Deka also said.

This also applied to the warning strike on Wednesday.

“I appeal to the teaching staff (…) to monitor the students, even if they are not in class, because it is absolutely normal not to have syncopal states in the educational process and not to cause trouble to families who know that their children in class,” he added, the Minister of Education noted.

Representatives of trade unions in the field of education announced on Tuesday the beginning of a general strike on May 22. It will be preceded by a warning strike on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
