The prime minister gave an interview in a different style, touching on many issues Kyriakos Mitsotakis on ANT1’s “The 2Night Show”. He commented on their relationship with his political opponents as well as with his staff, mentioned his meetings with European leaders and the President of Turkey, reviewed his goals for the new four-year period, talked about his daily life, politics, wiretapping, healthcare system, achievements and the omissions of the first four years, all the way to communicating via Tik Tok, as well as the brutality of politics and the personal attacks he and his family members received.
The Prime Minister mentioned that he goes into this election calmer, more conscious and more experienced, perhaps after four years of struggling with great difficulties. “The elections are the culmination of, I would say, a four-year journey. This is the moment when you need to talk to citizens, present the work done to their judgment and, of course, talk to them about the future,” he said.
He noted that although he grew up in a family that prepared him for what it means to be in an environment close to power, “the truth is that nothing prepares you for the burden of responsibility when you sit in this chair” and much more because of a series of unforeseen crises like those he was called upon to deal with.
Mr. Mitsotakis spoke about his parents, his father’s cool approach, which he tries to adopt to a certain extent, and when asked to comment, emphasized the need to decriminalize mental health problems, especially for the younger generation, emphasizing: It is a big challenge for us to have structures that can provide this help for free, because not everyone can afford to receive psychological help.
He also added: I believe that things have been going better lately, despite this, the experiences are still very intense and there is a deep belief in the new generation that they are likely to live worse than their parents. He pointed out that the challenge is to disprove this belief with action.
He mentioned that Greek history is full of triumphs and disastershe stressed that “what we’ve been through has been very, very difficult and we’re struggling to make up for lost time”, noting, however, that things are much better today than they were in 2019.
He spoke when asked about what the government had achieved in the first four years, as well as the choice of its partners, bribes, bureaucracy and mechanisms to eliminate them in practice.
Regarding the prospect of one of his children wanting to get into politics, he pointed out, “The only thing I’ll say is if any little kid wants to get into politics, I’ll only give him one piece of advice: make sure you work first.” Really stick to it, know what it means to make a living, know what it means to have an employer and be consistent in your commitments. And then, after you’ve made your career, think again if you want to deal with the public.”
He also talked about the need to make the jump to the next day of the National Health System.
Then, on whether there is a “red phone” for direct communication with foreign leaders, he talked about his relationship and his contacts with European leaders and the President of Turkey, as well as the security of communications.
Asked to comment: “Why can’t three young people work together, I don’t know, with a proven model of collaboration, how it could work…”, he said that the collaboration of three people with very different views would eventually lead to paralysis and insists that there should be a stable one-party government after the elections. On a personal level, he expressed bitterness at the attacks he says his wife is methodically receiving from SYRIZA.. As for Mr. Androulakis, he said that he had not met him in person, and he was left wondering what he was like as a person.
He talked about his children, his attitude to sports and proper nutrition, how he relaxes and what he watches on TV, as well as bullying, the Thessaloniki metro and the modernization of the railway network.
In fact, at the end of the interview, the prime minister was also asked questions from a small, former partner of the show, answering, if he were not prime minister, who would he want to be, what kind of superpower would he like to have, while he refused a bribe, which “little journalist” to abolish the theme of the bank.
