Paying a toll when going on vacation or just driving on the highway to work has become commonplace today. We are already used to sometimes spending several tens of euros to cross France. Especially since the fares continue to rise every year. And it is not for nothing that the companies managing the highways have the right to review the prices every year, passing on up to 70% of the inflation rate. Thus, this year the fare has increased by no less than 4.75% compared to last year. That clearly does not please motorists.
Fuel, tolls, additional costs, trips to departure are overpriced.

Three associations are responding
But the associations do not remain aloof, and many are outraged by this situation. This is especially true 40 million motorists, the National Union of Family Associations (Unaf) and the National Federation of Road Transport (FNTR). The latter gathered to discuss this issue during a meeting organized in the Senate. It happened on Wednesday, May 10, as General Secretary Rodolphe Lanz reports on the People’s Senate website, where all debates are transcribed. And they were quite lively.
Profit is subject to criticism
The associations note that the fare has increased 2.4 times since 2000 and that ” we pay a lot for roads, but this money does not go to the state. We are clients of road companies“. The latter apparently condemn the high prices and the fact that ” the state remains the main beneficiary. For a ticket worth 10 euros, the latter is given 4.20 euros“. Amounts raised by companies and the government are obviously allocated to organizations. So much so that Bruno Le Maire announced that he plans to reduce the duration of the concessions by several years.
